Tracking down slow code is about to get a lot faster. We’re excited to debut our Github Integration for Scout Application Monitoring:
With the Github Integration enabled, instead of seeing backtraces for slow method calls (>= 500 ms), you’ll see the relevant code in our UI. This goes beyond the code: you’ll also see who wrote it and when it was committed. Fix performance problems faster by assigning them to the developer most familiar with the code.
Setup Instructions
Github Integration needs to be configured for each app (not account-wide).
- Login to Scout and access the app you wish to integrate with Github.
- Click the “settings” link at the top:
- On the settings page, click the “Authenticate Github with OAuth” button.
- After completing the auth process, select the repo and branch used with this app.
Not an existing app monitoring customer? Signup for early access.
What to look for?
When viewing slow requests, look for the “CODE” button. We collect backtraces on method calls that take >= 500 ms. Clicking that button will reveal the associated application code.
Pricing
Github Integration is included with all subscriptions. You can pick between per-server pricing ($59/server) or per-request pricing (starts at $20 for every 1M requests with automatic volume discounts).
